Surrendering Self

Matthew 6:7-8
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Jesus just told his followers to go to their “inner room” and pray to God “in secret.” He further emphasizes His point by telling them “do not babble” with many words. God already knows what we need. The question is…do we? We all think we know what we want but only God knows what we truly need. Jesus goes on to tell His followers to pray to God that “your kingdom come, your will be done.” God wants the best for us. So why not simply sit in silent reverence before our Loving Creator and say, “Not my will…but Yours be done.” Ask the Blessed Mother for help.
