Luke 14:13-14
“When you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Are Jesus’ words not completely opposed to how the world thinks? Jesus gets to the motive of our actions. When we invite people to a party…do we not determine who we invite by what we believe we will get from them or in terms of what we have received from them in the past? Jesus says we should invite those who have nothing to repay. Jesus, the Son of God, knelt and washed the feet of those who could give Him nothing in return. God does the same for us when we are in the most need…when we are unable to help ourselves. That’s when God lovingly embraces us. How might I do the same for someone in need today?
