Matthew 19:29
“And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life.”

This statement by Jesus is all about attachments.
Since we know that he said the greatest commandments are to love God and your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39)…we know that he’s not asking us to discard our families.
What he is saying is that when you make serving God your top priority you will have to set aside all other desires.
When you are living in the flow of God’s desires for you…then you begin to experience the kingdom of God right now in the present.
You are then already inheriting eternal life.
The key to understanding this is to know that for Jesus the “kingdom of God” or “kingdom of heaven” which he interchangeably uses (see Matthew 19:23-24) is available now to those who live a life of love, mercy, forgiveness and compassion…when you are present to the needs of the other.
In the Our Father Jesus instructs us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
How else can God’s kingdom come on earth…unless we cooperate?
Jesus also promised that those who give up all…they will receive “a hundred times more.”
When you are living your calling in the service of a Greater Good…you will be rich indeed.
