Child of God

1 John 3:2
Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

The bible says we are made in God’s image. Each of us is a tiny reflection of the Divine Image. But each of us is yet a unique reflection that only each individual is capable of making. We are given the freedom to “die” to our egocentric desires and to allow the Divine Image to shine through us. It is the path to becoming our “true selves.” Each moment brings us a choice of letting go of our ego’s insatiable desires to create a “false self” or to use our gifts and talents for God’s desires. We do not have any idea just what the “true self” will be…but we can be sure that when we are fully present to the Divine Presence…we are reflecting God.

God Alone

Psalm 71:5
You are my hope, Lord; my trust, God, from my youth.

God…I thank You for all the blessings in my life. All my pain and difficulties I hand over to You knowing that You are my only true hope. You are always with me. I put my life in Your hands!

Never Alone

Psalm 72:12
For he rescues the poor when they cry out, the oppressed who have no one to help.

God loves each of us unconditionally. Our loving Creator wants to be with us and rescue us. When you feel oppressed…call out to God! Open yourself to the peace He wants to bring you. As for the poor and oppressed around us…how will God lift them up and rescue them? Maybe…through you!

Eternal Love

Psalm 72:17
May his name be blessed forever; as long as the sun, may his name endure.

Jesus was described as the alpha and the omega. His reign is eternal. His love is everlasting. It cannot change. This is Who our God is. Anchor your life on that foundation. Place your hope in Him.

Savior

Psalm 34:7
In my misfortune I called, the Lord heard and saved me from all distress.

Is there something you are struggling with? That very thing can lead you to your salvation. It is the very place where you cannot do it on your own…the place where you need God. It is the place where God wants to be with you…not punish you. It is the place where God can help you grow and become whole. Let God’s unconditional love bring you relief!

Divine Guide

Psalm 25:4-5
Make known to me your ways, Lord; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior.

In this Advent season…why not invite Jesus to come into your life in a new way. Humbly open yourself to Him. Let go of selfish motivations and ask Jesus to show you your path that will lead to new life. Jesus said that He was the way, the truth and the life. See what happens!

Do Not Judge

Matthew 11:18-19
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is vindicated by her works.”

Appearances are deceiving. John the Baptist was believed to be demented…some sort of crazy person. Jesus…was not the mighty, warrior Messiah that the people expected. He spent time with so-called sinners. He was accused of being a glutton and a drunkard. Who is Jesus to you? It would be a good idea to re-read His words in the Gospels and allow the words to speak to your soul. Open your heart to the One who wants to help you become the unique person that God intended.

True Security

Isaiah 41:13
For I am the LORD, your God, who grasp your right hand; It is I who say to you, “Fear not, I will help you.”

The prophet Isaiah lived 700 years before Jesus but he made some incredibly accurate predictions about the coming Messiah. The line quoted here may have been written by one of Isaiah’s followers who carried on his prophetic call. God was truly speaking through these prophets who were passing on the messages they were receiving through prayer. This message says that the God of the universe is ready to grasp your hand and say, “Fear not, I will help you.” Open yourself to God’s offer!

Giver of Peace

Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Life is hard. Are you burdened with something…or struggling with something? Try sitting in silence and invite Jesus to be with you. Bring the burden or struggle to Him. Jesus offers to bring you rest. ‘Lord…I am ready to receive Your offer!’

Relentless Love

Matthew 18:12-14
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray. In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost.

We have all at one time or another (or perhaps many times) strayed…and have made choices that take us away from God. Isn’t it wonderful that God does not hold grudges? Jesus says that God will always pursue us when we stray and will rejoice when we come back. There is no talk of retribution or punishment…only love. After all…God’s love is unconditional. Let that thought…settle into your soul!
