Silent Presence

Luke 6:12
In those days he departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.

Even Jesus withdrew from the noise of every day life and went into isolation…or to His “inner room” as He put it (Matthew 6:6)…to pray to God. Praying is opening up the communication channel between you and your Loving Creator. It is quieting the endlessly babbling and judging mind…so we can hear God’s voice in our hearts. It is the practice of self-emptying…creating a space for God to fill. To many it would seem like a meaningless practice…like you are doing nothing. In reality…it is a practice that will open you to the Presence of God and will utterly change your life for the better. God wants to be with you and transform you. Spend some time in the silent Presence each day.

1 Response to Silent Presence

  1. Denise Obermeyer's avatar Denise Obermeyer says:

Bill, in my past…I have never taken the TIME to sit down everynight and find some quiet time to spend with GOD. My praise, worship, and committment to GOD was always through my daily activities which involved praising GOD through song and praise. I was always taught that prayer was always said when you wake up, before dinner and before bedtime. I talked to GOD, but I never thought of it as a time of worship. Rather for me..it was a time of solitude to get away from the world and gather myself through the grace of GOD. Now for the past month, I have been finding sometime out of my day to walk with our Lord, talk with our Lord, for myself I am sharing my daily thoughts, cares, needs, and definitely praises to our Lord. This for myself has been a BIG LIFT OF FAITH, HOPE, & LOVE. And this coming Tuesday, I am meeting a spiritual director for whom I met on this past retreat, and we are going to talk about LIFE and the GIFTS my LIFE has given to me. So sitting down for me has been hard, but I do believe it’s time for myself to grow closer to our Lord. It’s never to late, rather GOD ALWAYS WELCOMES YOU !!!
