Die to Live

Matthew 16:24-26
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life?

This is a key message of Jesus. Unless you “deny yourself” (let go of your ego’s desires) and “take up your cross” (accept your hardships and unfair persecution that comes with following Jesus)…you will not find the life that was meant for you. You could actually gain much power, prestige and many possessions…but never become your true self! To figure out what God wants for you…you will have to do much listening in prayer and much discerning. It won’t be easy…but nothing could bring you more satisfaction and peace.
