Ego Mania

Mark 9:34-35
The Apostles had been discussing among themselves on the way who was the greatest. Then Jesus sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”

Jesus lays out in His statement the key to finding peace and joy in this life: using your gifts and talents to serve those in need. But our culture preaches the opposite. To be happy we must have power, prestige, and wealth and be served by everyone else. Our egos’ goal is literally to be number one. Which path will you follow? Our egos will likely choose the culture’s way. Yet grabbing for more power, prestige and wealth cannot ultimately satisfy…because none of it will last. Why not try out Jesus’ way and see what happens?
