Ephesians 4:1-3
I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.
What “call” have you received? Everyone has a calling. God made you to be a unique channel of God’s love, mercy, justice and compassion to the world…and to cooperate in God’s evolving creation (in religious lingo…to help build the kingdom of God). If you don’t know your calling…try spending more time communing with God in silent, self-emptying prayer and then follow the yearnings that arise in your heart. It won’t be easy. Your ego will not willingly give up control. Listening to your heart and acting on these desires will mean making changes. God’s priorities for us will not be society’s priorities. St. Paul wrote today’s encouraging scripture to Christians while in a prison cell. This former anger-filled persecutor of Christians had been transformed by the unconditional Love of God into living in the freedom of being the person he was called to be. Open yourself to that same transforming Love.

Hi, Bill! If you haven’t already read it, thought you might enjoy WITHOUT BUDDHA I COULD NOT BE A CHRISTIAN by Paul F. Knitter. Peace!
Hi Dennis! I read Richard Rohr’s reflections where he refers to Knitter’s book but I have not read the book. Sounds very interesting though! Have you read it?
I’m half way through it now and was reading it when I took a break to read your message. A great perspective for me and obviously I thought of you.
