Galatians 5:1

For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.

The “yoke of slavery” that most of us grapple with is the attachment to possessions, beliefs, and unjust systems.

St. Paul experienced freedom in Christ.

Following the ways of Jesus gave him new life.

He realized that death would not be the end. There would be resurrection.

Paul saw this pattern of dying and rising repeated throughout life in all our struggles.

The valley of darkness would be followed by glorious mountaintops.

Paul also realized that Jesus showed him how to live his life by giving it away…serving others…letting go of attachments to things that don’t last.

This also set him free daily.

Paul realized that Christ revealed that there is eternal life and that God loved all people with an infinite love that could not be defeated.

You did not have to earn salvation…but it was a free gift.

It was all Grace!

Paul’s message to the Galatians and to us is to accept these revelations…live them…and be free.
