Psalm 91:15

He will call upon me and I will answer; I will be with him in distress.

Is this how we envision God responding to us?

Or do we instead see a harsh taskmaster who is always looking to criticize our shortcomings?

Is our idea of God more like someone who is like Santa Claus…as in “making a list, checking it twice, going to find out who’s naughty and nice”?

Jesus said that if you know him then you also know God (John 14:7).

Jesus was always reaching out to those in need with healing and forgiveness.

The only people Jesus criticized were the religious leaders who were being harsh taskmasters!

Remember…scripture tells us that God is Love (1 John 4:8).

Love always responds with…well…love!

If you call out to God…compassion is what you will get.

Compassion literally means “to suffer together.”

God joins us in our sufferings and our joyscommunes with us and brings us comfort and peace.

So be present to this Divine Presence.

From this place…we can truly heal, grow, and become whole.
