Each of us is called to be the compassionate change that is needed.

Luke 18:35-38

Now as he approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”

Jesus did not take up residence in a synagogue and wait for people to come to him.

As a matter of fact, he apparently didn’t even have a place to call home.

Scripture quotes Jesus as saying, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head” (Luke 9:58).

Jesus was out and about.

He was going where the Spirit led him…not knowing what or who he would encounter.

His mission was to restore people to wholeness.

Jesus actively sought people on the margins of society…the outcasts.

The blind man in today’s scripture verse would not have had his sight restored…had Jesus not decided to seek out those in need.

How will people today come to know the love, mercy, grace, forgiveness and compassion of Jesus…if you and I don’t become his hands and his feet?
