Acts 11:17-18
“If then God gave them the same gift he gave to us when we came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to be able to hinder God?” When they heard this, they stopped objecting and glorified God, saying, “God has then granted life-giving repentance to the Gentiles too.”

Peter had been confronted by other Christian believers for including the Gentiles.
Peter said he was told to do so in a dream and that the Holy Spirit fell upon them all.
Yes, it is true: God does not discriminate.
God includes all people.
There is no separation between the sacred and the profane.
All of it is sacred!
Yet we humans still tend to divide everyone into the “good guys” and the “bad guys.”
We, of course, are always in the “good” group!
It seems many define their identities by who they are against.
But God loves all people…even those who do evil things.
This is why Jesus commanded his followers to love their enemies (Matthew 5:44).
This is also why he commanded us to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).
Not love your neighbor as you love yourself but love your neighbor as yourself – as though your neighbor is you!
As I’ve quoted Thomas Merton before:
“My dear brothers and sisters, we are already one. But we imagine we are not. And what we have to recover is our original unity. What we have to be, is what we are” (The Asian Journal of Thomas Merton).
