John 13:20

“Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

Jesus wanted us to know that it’s a team effort.

It’s all about relationship.

It’s all about oneness.

We are many parts but one body.

We are called to carry on the work of Jesus, and, as I said yesterday, that means actually doing the things he did.

That means reaching out to the ones in need and those who have been rejected and cast out to the margins.

It means restoring all to the one body.

Jesus would later say, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Just before today’s scripture verse, Jesus had washed his followers’ feet.

He sends us forth to do the same.
