Galatians 1:9

As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you received, let that one be accursed!

There have always been people trying to pervert the gospel or slant it or make it fit their narrative.

Each of us has to use our conscience to determine when this is happening.

But we first have to know the gospel that Jesus preached!

The gospel, or Good News, is that God is love and wants everyone to know they are loved unconditionally by the way we treat them.

Jesus made that clear when he said the greatest commandments were to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40).

Jesus gave the same answer to the scholar of the law who asked him what you must do to inherit eternal life (Luke 10:25-27).

To love is the most important thing!

That is why we are here.

And we show love by our actions, especially our actions to help the least of these.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me” (Matthew 25:35-36).

Jesus did not say: ‘Blessed are the wealthy;’ or ‘Blessed are the elite;’ or ‘Blessed are the people of only one political party;’ or ‘Blessed are the people of only this religion or this country.’

The gospel calls us to love all people.

And that requires action.
