Who are those in need…who need you?

Psalm 72:12-13

For he rescues the poor when they cry out, the oppressed who have no one to help. He shows pity to the needy and the poor and saves the lives of the poor.

When you read the gospels…you see that Jesus obviously takes the option of the poor.

He is always reaching out to the people on the margins and spending time with them.

Remember when Jesus stood in the synagogue on the Sabbath day and read from Isaiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” (Luke 4:18).

This is sometimes called Jesus’ mission statement.

If we are to follow Jesus…how are we to emulate this mission in our lives?
