Luke 21:1-4

When he looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”

Jesus goes to the heart of the matter in this scripture.

We all have to ask ourselves: Am I giving the bare minimum?

Do I only reach out to help others on rare occasions or when some need confronts me face-to-face?

Do I even respond then?

Or…am I giving all that I am in love and compassion in living my life?

As St. Paul said near the time of his martyrdom, “I am already being poured out like a libation” (2 Timothy 4:6).

Guilt cannot be our motive.

God knows our hearts.

Consider that God has already given each of us unconditional love and eternal life!

We are truly free.

How amazing is this!

So…what is our response?
