Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.”

You’ve heard the saying, “Actions speak louder than words.”

What Jesus is trying to get across in today’s scripture verse is that words don’t always cut it.

Praying words such as ‘Lord, Lord’ without any accompanying action, is only halfway.

For instance, there are people in need of help.

If all we ever do is utter words of prayer…that’s something…but what is really needed is for us to take action to actually help.

Jesus often talked about the “kingdom of God” or the “kingdom of heaven” being among us.

It’s a state of being when the Love of God actually becomes tangibly real in the present.

This requires that we awaken to this Divine Presence, let go…and allow it to move us to do good.

When we do this…the kingdom of heaven will truly be at hand.
