Luke 13:20-21

Jesus said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”

Jesus was always talking about the kingdom of God.

But this reference was generally not about some future reward.

He was talking about the present.

Jesus seemed to be quite focused on the idea that the kingdom of God was right here under our noses but usually missed.

“The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’ For behold, the kingdom of God is among you” (Luke 17:20-21).

This kingdom might be better translated as “kin-dom”.

I’ve seen other contemporary spiritual writers translate it as the “companionship of empowerment.”

It’s when a Larger Life conspires to create nurturing connections.

It’s when the Spirit, if you will, secretly empowers a community to come together for a good purpose.

Creativity blossoms out of nowhere – to now-here.

When we go with the flow of this Spirit, putting our creativity in the service of Goodness and those in need, this kingdom of God, or kin-dom, breaks into the present moment.
