Psalm 111:2

Great are the works of God, exquisite in all their delights.

+++

We’ve all experienced the beauty of creation.

We’ve all been stunned by the awe and wonder of a mountain range or a brilliant sunrise or sunset.

What about the vast array of twinkling stars in a clear night sky?

The universe is a magnificent work of art that is still unfolding.

Creation is still happening.

Mixed into the fabric of all that is, is the Great Artisan.

God, or Love itself, is at work.

It’s at the cellular level of everything.

God is present in all things.

And as Jesus said, “I am in God and you are in me and I in you” (John 14:20).

We are all one in God.

That means that all things are sacred.

If we truly reverenced all that is, we would never do harm.

We would never pollute or desecrate.

But we know that human beings have free will.

We can choose greed and lust.

We can choose self-gratification over self-emptying-love.

We are the ones who have the option of being stewards of God’s creation or desecrators.

This choice must be part of all that we do – how we vote, how we shop, how we work – how we operate on a daily basis.

May our lives add to the glory of God’s magnificent masterpiece!
